3 Ways to Layer a Striped Top in the Winter

A striped top is a must in any wardrobe. It is a great layering piece that adds interest no matter the season– a striped tank in the summer, a tee in the spring, and a long sleeve in the fall & winter.
I think the most versatile colors are black (or dark navy!) and white but you could choose whatever colors go best with your wardrobe. I picked up this one at Walmart & it is all sold out at this point, but I will link similar options as a striped long sleeve top is fairly easy to find.

I will be layering this striped top three different ways but keeping the base the same–striped top, straight leg jeans, & sock booties.

This first look is certainly “on-trend”–layering using a shirt jacket, or shacket, as the kids are calling them these days. I really love the shacket trend because I live in Northern NY where it is COLD, so an extra warm layer that is also cute works great! This one is from Amazon and has been one of my favorite shackets to style all winter long!

This second look has a crew neck sweatshirt layered over the striped top. It’s comfy, it’s cute, it’s casual. What more could you want? This cute one from amazon has a tulip hem (easier to see when I link it below) & is a great color.

The third look is a classic–a cardigan and stripes is a tale as old as time. I love a good cardigan outfit & even better if it’s neutral tones. Mine is old, but I linked a bunch of tan/taupe options below.

Which look is your favorite?
Do you like to layer or is it too bulky for you?

Three All-Black Outfits for Winter

As we head into January & the weather gets colder I tend to reach for more black items in my wardrobe. I like an all black outfit because 1.it’s simple & 2. it’s chic. Two things I usually strive for in my outfits.

I came up with three fairly easy all black outfits for winter that you can use as inspiration. Most of the items in these photos & this post are older, but I linked similar options in case you want to try and recreate them.

If you prefer video over pictures & blog posts, you can see the reel HERE!

As always, I use affiliate links via Liketoknow.it & this means I earn a very small commission if you purchase something using any of my links. I always appreciate the support & it helps me continue to put time & effort into doing this. Thanks 🙂

This first look is a pair of faux leather leggings (these ones are from Sawyer Laine Boutique, but I linked similar) black booties & a black sweater. Super comfy, super easy to put together, & super cute!

This is the most dressed up look, because obviously, it’s a dress. This exact dress is sold out but there’s a bunch of similar ones on the amazon listing. I love the sheer sleeves and the sheer hem. It makes the look a bit sexy, but not revealing.

This look is my favorite because I love a black jeans moment & this bodysuit (which is sold out, sorry!) kicks it up a notch. Paired with a black cardigan, it’s a perfect look for date night or girls’ night out!

Are you a fan of all black? If so, would you wear any of these looks? Let me know in the comments or over on my instagram!

3 Ways to Wear a Fuzzy Button Front Cardigan

I picked up this cardigan at Target & it is SO soft. It’s got this really cozy fabric that is MADE for cold weather.
It comes in two other colors, but this one is perfectly neutral & I love it. To be honest, I wasn’t really paying attention when I ordered it & didn’t realize the cardigan had a collar. It is really cute though & adds some interest to the sweater.

I styled it 3 ways, but it’s definitely a fun neutral that can be worn a bunch of ways for the fall/winter season.

As always, everything will be linked via Liketoknow.it at the bottom of the post. If you shop using these affiliate links I make a small commission that allows me to keep styling & doing what I enjoy. Thanks! 🙂

I paired the cardigan with my wide brim hat for all these outfits. In this outfit, I’m also wearing my new favorite pair of straight leg jeans from target (SO comfy, nice high waist, & stretchy–so not uncomfortable at all!) & my sock booties. My sock booties are old but I linked two similar pairs below. I really love sock booties because the tight ankle makes them super versatile & able to go with everything (straight legs, skirts, dresses, wide leg pants, skinnies)!

In this outfit, I’m wearing one of my favorite skirts that I like to pull out in the cooler months. It’s a silkier material so it works well for this season (It is also older, but there are a a couple very, very similar ones I linked below. There’s also A TON of color options). I love this look because it’s dressed up but still really comfortable.

I’m pretty sure every styling session this winter will feature my black skinny jeans. I’ve had these for 2 years now & I feel like I’m JUST realizing what a staple they are. They dress up a look so much more than blue jeans but are the same comfort level– win-win! Again, these ones are older but I linked some great options!

3 Ways to Wear Black Denim for the Holidays

I love the holidays– there are all sorts of fun events to attend– performances, parties, visiting santa, seeing Christmas lights, getting together with friends, etc.

Some of these events require a fancy outfit, but most of them (at least for me!) don’t require anything too dressed up & I just want to look nice but not be decked out. When I’m looking to elevate an outfit, I usually turn to the color black. It’s classic & always comes through for me.

I put together these three outfits with black denim & I think they’re the perfect amount of “dressed up” but not fancy. I’m wearing skinny jeans but you could also do straight legs, flares, mom jeans, or whatever style fits what you like best!

Almost everything I am wearing in this post is older (my long duster cardigan, black sweater, and necklace are the only linkable items) so I will link similar options if you’d like to use these outfits as inspiration. Alternatively, if you shop your closet I’m sure you could put together some great outfit combos as well!
I use affiliate links, which means I make a small commission if you purchase using these links. There is no additional cost to you & it helps me continue to style outfits & do what I love doing! Thanks 🙂

I love this outfit because it is elevated by wearing a velvet cami. Velvet is a GREAT fabric choice for winter & definitely makes anything feel a bit fancier. Of course, where I live you definitely need a sweater this time a year & I feel like the duster cardigan is a bit fancier than a shorter cardigan. (below, I linked a velvet cami that is more scoop necked & comes in multiple colors– the green & the burgundy are also gorgeous choices!)

A pop of red is always a good choice for the holidays! I chose to add it in with a sweater but you could also choose to do a pop of color with your shoes instead. Alternatively, you could do a green sweater if that’s more your color!

All black is always a favorite (and I have an all black for the holidays outfit guide post in the works!) & the addition of an off-shoulder sweater adds just a touch of appeal! The balloon sleeves on this sweater also make it dressier & more fun.

To dress up each of these outfits I wore my black velvet heels with an ankle strap. You could definitely switch them out for flats or booties too!
