How to Realistically Wear Black Denim Jeans in the Spring (10 different ways)

In the past few years, I have struggled with dressing how I’m “supposed” to dress and actually dressing realistically and how I want to dress. What I mean by that is that NORMALLY for spring its florals, pastels, & color, and while I do enjoy those things, I want to make sure I am dressing how I WANT to and not just what is on trend for the season. These ten outfits may not be your typical “spring” outfits, but they feel very “me”, are quite realistic for where I live, and I love them!

I bought these black denim jeans from Madewell this past winter and they’re so great, but sometimes I find them harder to wear than my blue jeans because I overthink it. This is why I decided to do some styling sessions, so I’d have inspiration to look back on when I want to wear them.

I created a few reels styling them and these are screenshots from those reels (which is why the photos aren’t amazing quality– but they give you the gist of the outfits, which is what’s most important ;). You can see the reels here, here, and here.

As always, I will link everything I can (and similar items!) at the bottom of the post. I use affiliate links, which means that if you purchase something using my links I earn a very small commission, at no addional cost to you. It’s a great way to support me on here and I always appreciate it. Thanks so much 🙂

I love this outfit. I wear this yellow/brown button up religiously in the spring/summer. I bought it from Target a few years ago, so it’s gone now, but I found an almost identical top that I linked below.

This jacket is a perfect spring color & is lightweight and comfy! I paired it with white sneakers which always look so cute for spring.

This little open weave sweater is so cute for spring. You can wear a tank over it or wear it open like I am. I paired it with my birkenstock boston clog lookalikes.

Black on black is always classic and I love this cardigan with the tortoise shell buttons.

This tan/taupe muscle tee is from chicwich and sold out in most sizes now, but I have an almost identical one from target that I linked. It’s so cute and the sleeves make it interesting. I’m wearing my birkenstock sandals and it’s such a casual vibe.

I don’t think I’ll ever stop wearing this cardigan from h&m that I have in two colors (sold out now). It’s the easiest thing to throw on and feel put together. I will link similar cardigans. It’s hard to tell in this photo, but I’m also wearing a striped linen tee. So comfy and cute!

Mott & Bow makes these great boxy cropped tees that dont need to be tucked to look put together. Again, I went with all black here and added a leather backpack and taupe birkenstock sandals for a cool casual vibe.

Chambray is a no brainer when it comes to pairing it with black denim. I chose a heather grey tee and white sneakers to really make this outfit cute!

If you’ve been around for the last year, you know this cotton button up has been a STAPLE in my wardrobe. It is currently sold out, but this style top is SO popular so I linked some similar options.

This outfit is the least “spring-y” of them all, but I love it just the same. It works for spring where I live (where it is still cold and wet and muddy). I love this 100% cotton organic sweater from Quince & you know I’m wearing my blundstones into spring as long as it’s wet out!

3 Fall Items (Styling Each One Two Ways!)

I have been slacking on writing blog posts lately– it’s the final quarter of the year & life seems busier than ever! We’ve had a bunch of fall fun AND a bunch of sickness that comes with this time of year, so I haven’t been able to hop on here and post. Here are a few outfits from Pinkblush that I have been wanting to share for a little bit now!

I am sharing two photos of each item below– how I styled each item to share in a reel, and how I wore the items out and about.

If you prefer video content, you can watch my reel HERE.

You can use MARISSAELISE25 for $$ off from Pinkblush! I will link everything I can below each photo. I do use affiliate links– this means I earn a small commission if you purchase something using my links (at no additional charge to you). Thanks for your support–it means the world! 🙂

This dress is so pretty- I love the neutral print, the mini length, & the deep v neck!
My boots and my mules are old, so I linked some similar pairs! my bag is The Festival Bag from Portland Leather goods in the honey color.

I’m obsessed with the color of this shacket. It’s called charcoal on the website and that’s a perfect description. It’s a pretty dark grey that goes with everything!
I linked a few similar options of items (my tan boots & my henley button top), everything else is linked as well!

This tan fleece button up is so cozy and perfectly oversized! Love it with my tan chelsea boots!
Everything is linked below– I got my blundstone boots from Zappos but also linked them on amazon for more sizes.

How to Style: Bikers, Leggings, & Joggers (6 Casual Outfits)

I found this new brand on amazon called ColorfulKoala and they have awesome biker shorts, leggings and joggers! I reached out to them for a collaboration and this post features a few of the items they sent me. There items are soft, super comfortable & cute!

As always, I will link everything using affiliate links. This means that I earn a small commission if you purchase using my links, at no additional cost to you. What is different about this post is I’ll link each outfit under each picture.

This first look features the green biker shorts. They’re a great moss green color & I love them paired with this long tee. This tee is one of my favorites to wear with leggings and bikers because the hem makes it so flattering and it also covers your bum!

I realized last year that a taupe pair of leggings is so versatile! Unfortunately, this color is sold out, so I linked similar. They look so cute with this amazon shacket & my favorite amazon belt bag!

These taupe bikers have a bit of a heathered look to them and were the first ColorfulKoala item I tried. I was sold! I love them with a taupe lightweight button up– so cute!

This look ended up being a bonus look- I didn’t plan it in my styling session and threw it on afterwards. It kinda gives the vibes of those trendy tight body suits with a sweater over it and I’m here for that! In fact, it’s just a tank and bikers and so much easier to use the bathroom in. haha!

How to Style: Short Overalls

I’ve styled overalls on my blog before (you can check out that post here!) but it’s been about two years now & I wanted to do an updated post on styling overalls. In my last post, I styled denim pant overalls. I recently picked up a pair of 100% cotton short overalls (or shorteralls as they’re sometimes called) & they’re so cute and easy to wear! I am styling them 4 ways in this blog post. The cotton material makes them perfectly breathable for warmer weather!

If you prefer video content, you can watch the reel HERE!

As always, I will link everything I can at the bottom of the post. If something is older or out of stock, I will do my best to link similar options. I use affiliate links, which means I make a small commission if you purchase something using my links. Thanks for your support–it means the world to me!

I think this first look is just super adorable! A striped linen blend tee (that’s only $10?!) with cotton shortalls?! So cute!

This second looks feels so casual and cute! A sweater makes it cozy on top and cooler on the bottom.

This third outfit is perfect for those really hot days! A tank under overalls always looks super sweet. I think this color of the madewell tanks is sold out, but I will link the tanks anyway (in lots of colors!) because they’re some of my favorites for summer!

The final look is a favorite– I loved shackets for fall & winter and a gauzy/linen/cotton button up shirt is the perfect summer version of a shacket. Effortless and cool!

Would you wear short overalls (shorteralls)?! If so, which look would you try?
