Early Fall Outfit Ideas: Casual, Comfy & Cute Outfits for Everyday

September has been quite a busy month with school starting and all the things that go along with that. October is right around the corner and it seems like the cooler weather is here to stay! I’ve been really enjoying dressing more for Fall with all the denim, jackets, and layers. The in between season where I can wear cozy sweaters but also still wear sandals and not really need a jacket yet is one of my favorites for getting dressed–it’s really a fun sweet spot. Here are some of the early Fall looks I’ve been wearing.

These have been one of my favorite pairs of jeans for a few years now. The utility style makes them so fun! Paired them with my brown sherpa vest and a cotton long sleeve tee and sneakers.

This matching set from Old Navy is super cozy and the perfect color for Fall (also comes in other colors, including a really pretty forest green!). I’ve been throwing it on every night to be cozy and comfy.

We had a warm-ish day for our pumpkin day this year, so I wore my denim shortalls! So comfy and I love how they look with a long sleeve top.

I bought this cozy matching set last year and I’ve worn it countless times! The best part is that it’s only $12 a piece and this new crewneck that I bought recently also matches the sweatpants too.

Tops to Wear with Barrel Jeans

Okayyy, so you grabbed the barrel jeans and yes—they’re insanely comfy—but now you’re staring at your closet like… what do I even wear with these?! Don’t worry, I’ve got you. Here are 5 cozy tops I’m pairing with mine for cooler weather!

As always, everything I’m wearing is linked under each photo. If something is older or sold out, I’ll do my best to link something similar—you’ll see a note in the LTK app if it’s not the exact item. 1. A basic long sleeve

A basic long sleeve top is the easiest one to think of, in my opinion. A basic long sleeve looks great tucked into a pair of barrel jeans. Add a necklace, scarf, or vest or accessory to make it even more fun!

2. A sweater

your sweater can be a crewneck, a v-neck, a boat neck or any type. Mine is a crewneck and it’s a little more oversized with a kind of high-low hem. It’s one of my favorites and I think it looks so cozy with barrel jeans.

3. A cardigan (unbuttoned as a layer or buttoned as a top)

A cardigan is one of my favorite layering pieces. Throw it over a tank, a tee, or a long sleeve and you’re super cozy. In the last few years I’ve also started wearing cardigans as tops, which is a great way to get more wear out of your cardigans!

4. A sweatshirt

I’m wearing a crewneck sweatshirt here, but it can be a henley sweatshirt, a 1/2 zip sweatshirt, or whichever type is your favorite. I think this is a cute and casual look paired with the barrel jeans.

5. A blouse

I don’t have a whole lot of blouses in my wardrobe, but I do like to have a few for an easy and cute top to pair with jeans. This green one has a more cropped fit, so it pairs well with the barrel jeans. If I was wearing a less cropped blouse, I would probably do a little front tuck.
