How to Create Festive Christmas Looks Using Clothes You Already Own

You don’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe to look festive this holiday season. With a little creativity, you can put together Christmas-inspired outfits using pieces you already have. I have put together 11 ways to style your everyday clothes for a cheerful, holiday-ready look!

If you ARE looking to fill some holes in your wardrobe or add something to your outfit rotation, I will link each outfit below each photo (if pieces are older or unavailable, I will link similar styles. This will be noted in the LTK description).

As always, I use affiliate links. This just means I earn a small commission if you shop using these links, at no additional cost to you. I appreciate you shopping my links as it helps me to continue putting together these posts. Thank you!

A pop of red: to make almost any outfit feel more Christmasy, throw on a red accessory (a beanie like this one, or a red scarf, red mittens, red bag, red shoes etc)

Try burgundy: if you don’t love red, try burgundy! It’s a trending color right now & it works for all sorts of occasions (Thanksgiving/ Valentines & Christmas!). Make it extra cute by matching your socks!

Wear a satin top: a satin top is a great investment for holiday events, winter date nights, or when you want to feel more dressed up!

Wear a festive sweater: a fair isle sweater in a neutral color is super cozy & will get lots of wear ALL winter long!

Wear white: white knits are perfect for the winter season— make it even cozier with a textured scarf!

Wear satin or go for a monochromatic outfit: a satin slip skirt (in any color!) is always a winner for the holidays. I went ahead & made a green monochromatic look & love how festive it feels!

Wear a red top: a red sweater is a cute way to feel festive & something you can wear year after year (it doesn’t even have to be printed like this one!).

Throw on a holiday scarf: the plaid colors in this scarf make it perfect for Christmas, but a solid scarf in green, red, white, or cream would work too!

Wear green: green is one of my favorite colors to wear so this is a really easy one for me!

Wear festive jewelry: stick with a neutral outfit and add red or green jewelry! These two pieces are from Sela Designs and you can use MARISSA10 for $$ off.

A Holiday Outfit (that isn’t full on red or green)

Personally, I love to deck myself out in holiday colors during the Christmas season, but I know not everyone does! This post is for my neutral lovers who want to add just a *touch* of festive flair to their neutral outfit this holiday season.

This otherwise neutral outfit is made slightly festive with a green or red piece of jewelry from Sela Designs (see close-ups below!)

Sela Designs is a jewelry brand that donates 100% of their profits to charity—they help stop human trafficking, help provide homes for orphans, & help break the cycle of generational poverty. This alone is a wonderful reason to support them, but another great reason is their jewelry is beautifully made and high quality.

I am sharing two pieces from their holiday collection, but I own a few more pieces as well that I’ll link at the end of the post. You can use MARISSA10 to save a little bit of money on your order.

This is the Restore Necklace—it’s made from a green garnet stone and has a 14k gold filled beaded chain. I love the beautiful jade green color and how unique it is!

This is the Mini Red Garnet Necklace. I love it because garnet is my birthstone, and the gems are the most beautiful deep red. You can get matching earrings too!
