10 Ways I’m Wearing My Campus Boots for Spring

I saw these boots when I was shopping at Walmart and thought they were so cute but left them behind. For weeks, I kept thinking about them and how cute they would be for spring, summer and fall, so I went back and purchased them. I am SO excited about wearing and styling them.

Here are 10 ways I came up with to wear them for spring. They’re surprisingly really comfortable– and that’s coming from someone who can’t really wear cheap and uncomfortable shoes. They have a foam insole and the small heel makes them comfortable for me.

This one is so fun! I love this boho quilted vest in all seasons and these boots look so great with wide leg jeans!

I know shorts and boots aren’t for everyone but I think it’s such a cute look! The green floral blouse (or any floral blouse!) looks so cute with denim and the tan boots.

A white maxi is a go-to spring (and summer!) outfit for me. I paired it with a denim jacket here for extra warmth while it’s still chilly out. For accessories I added a neck scarf and a cute crossbody bag from Portland Leather Goods.

This floral midi skirt has been an MVP in my closet since I bought it last fall. It truly goes with everything and is so comfy with an elastic waistband. I paired it with a pretty green tee (I own this one in a bunch of colors and the tank version!) and then added a denim jacket for when it’s cooler. I layered a couple of pretty golden necklaces and added a bracelet stack to finish up the look.

This gauze cotton dress is a vibrant and fun color. Love that it comes in petite so it fits me well. I had such a hard time choosing red or green! it looks so cute with a colorful beaded necklace, denim jacket and matching tote bag.

A denim midi/maxi skirt and a graphic tee was a no-brainer with these boots. I added an easy crossbody and some layered golden and gemstone necklaces to finishes it up. I’d add a long duster cardigan to cooler weather if needed!

Again with the boho blouse and wide leg jeans, but changed it up a bit! I added a leather crossbody and fun scarf and a leather corded necklace that I made. Love how it turned out!

How cute is a pair of boxer shorts, a denim shirt, and campus boots?! I just love it. To finish the look up I added this chunky necklace I recently picked up from Walmart. So fun!

The number one reason I love a white maxi is because it’s a blank slate for so many fun outfits. I loved pairing my green scarf and green cardigan with the boots and dress here. One of my favorite looks!

For the final look I went super casual with a cotton sweater, denim shorts and the campus boots. It’s casual and cute!

5 Easy Outfit Formulas to Wear When You Don’t Know What to Wear

I’ve been wanting to put this post together for a while as I think it’s really helpful for getting dressed! We all have days where we don’t know what to wear (even me🙋🏽‍♀️) and having outfit formulas that work are a great jumping off point!I have a few that I wear over and over and that make getting dressed easier for me, and I’m going to share them today.

I’d love if you let me know in the comments what a go-to outfit formula is for you— I’m always looking for easier ways to get dressed and feel good in what I’m wearing.

Some of these outfits are older, but I put them all together HERE if you’d like the links (I do use affiliate links which means I make a small commission if you make a purchase using these links. It helps me keep creating content and I appreciate your support!).

Here are 5 of my favorite outfit formulas⬇️

1. Jeans + Top: good denim, a sweatshirt or knit, and shoes that work.

2. Monochromatic (or Tonal) Layers: the same color family for a pulled-together feel!

3. Relaxed Bottoms + Fitted Top (or little top, big pants) an easy formula if you want a really balanced outfit.

4. Relaxed Top + Fitted Bottoms (or big top, little pants): I prefer this in colder weather (usually leggings + sweater), but it’s cute with biker shorts too!

5. Neutral Base + Pop Of Color Accessories: a bag, a hat, jewelry, a scarf or shoes! All fun ways to add pops of color and make your outfit more fun!

Which one are you going to try first?

Six Pairs of Shoes I Like to Wear with Barrel Jeans

Barrel jeans have become one of my favorite denim silhouettes. they’re relaxed through the leg, taper slightly at the ankle, and look effortless and put-together at the same time. But the question I get most often is: “what shoes can I wear with them?”*

Because of their shape, barrel jeans can be a little tricky to style. The solution is pairing the curved, voluminous leg with shoes that ground the outfit and highlight your ankle or add just enough height.

So today I’m breaking down six pairs of shoes that I think complement barrel jeans perfectly!

If you prefer video content watch the reel HERE.

As usual, you can find everything I’m wearing (or similar pieces) linked under each photo! These are affiliate links, so I may earn a small commission if you purchase anything using them—thank you for supporting me and my content🤎

    1. Mary Jane flats—I think a pair of Mary-Jane flats can go well with so many jeans! With barrel jeans, they bring a touch of femininity to the more masculine silhouette.

    2. Low profile sneakers— the low profile sneaker helps to balance out the wider fit of the barrel jeans by showing your ankle a bit.

    3. Clogs (heeled or flat)—I’m a big fan of clogs in all styles! They go with so many types of pants and dresses and skirts! They go well with barrel jeans because they help balance the volume.

    4. Heeled boots— I love a heeled boot as a dressier option. The heel obviously adds some height and visually lengthens the leg line.

    5. Slipper clogs—comfy and cute, I love these with barrel jeans! I feel like the bulkier shoe looks cute  with the volume of the barrel jeans.

    6. Chelsea boots—I didn’t get a chance to add them in my video, but I also like to wear my Chelsea boots (Blundstones included!) with them. I know this may be a controversial opinion—because there is a lot of chatter around it making the legs too bulky—but I think the cropped fit of the jean and slim shaft of the boot look great together and it’s super fun functional!

When it comes down to it, it’s all personal preference! There are NO hard and fast rules and you should really wear what you want to wear and what feels good.

What’s your favorite kind of shoes to wear with barrel jeans?

*this post is part of a series on what shoes to wear with what jeans, I’m calling it “The Jean & Shoe Guide”. I started with wide legs and you can find that post HERE.
