Three Ways to Wear Loafers

I’ll be the first to admit that I thought loafers were ugly and not my style. I thought they were too preppy and that there was no way they could fit into my wardrobe.

Well, it just goes to show that tastes change, because I am in love with this beautiful suede pair from Beckett Simonon (gifted). You can read more details on their website, but their shoes are ethically crafted and made to order. They’re incredible quality and just stunning.

I challenged myself to find three ways to style these loafers and I did—all three ways feel comfortable and like “me”, so I think I did pretty good.

I love this look— the wide leg jeans with the cuff make it so different than a normal wide leg jeans look. The browns are all super cohesive and bring it together.

These barrel leg pants are super comfy and I love pairing green and brown together! The cream cashmere sweater has pulls it all together and makes it a great neutral look.

This outfit is giving Parisian vibes and I’m here for it. The silk scarf is a fun find from our vacation to Cape May, NJ last year (I found a super similar one to link). I also love how black and brown pair together, so the pants were a good choice.

All outfits are linked HERE (including a bigger pair of loafers). Loafers linked HERE.

Nine Ways to Wear a Black Satin Slip Skirt

To be honest, I didn’t think slip skirts were for me. I felt like they showed too much of my imperfections (aka–my lower “mom pooch”), and I didn’t really think I could find any ways to style them that I would like.
I decided to try one and much to my surprise, I love it! Sure, it may highlight my lower stomach a bit, but it’s extremely comfortable and the fabric is so fun! The black makes it super versatile, and the longer length is perfect for the cooler months. This skirt is from OGL Move (use MARISSA15 for $$ off), but I will also link similar options.

I love how the slip skirt looks with a brown turtleneck and pointed toe heels– very classy! This outfit is linked HERE.

I thought adding a graphic tee to the slip skirt would be so fun! I paired it with the same pair of heels, but you could do sneakers or boots too! This outfit is linked HERE.

I LOVE this textured top from amazon (it’s a Free People lookalike) and the duster cardigan makes it appropriate for the cooler weather. I added boots for warmth as well! This outfit is linked HERE.

This tie strap tank is older (so I linked a similar bodysuit), but this look is perfect for a holiday party or fancier event. The heels add some shine and interest as well! This outfit is linked HERE.

I love warm cognac browns and think they pair so nicely with black. The matching of the sweater, boots, and bag ties it all together nicely. This outfit is linked HERE.

This outfit is comfy yet cute! This cardigan is already a workhorse in my wardrobe, I’ve worn it a ton in the short time I’ve had it. I would also wear this outfit with taupe boots! This outfit is linked HERE.

You can’t go wrong with all black and I love adding pops of cognac to an otherwise monochromatic outfit. This outfit is linked HERE.

A cropped sweater works beautifully with a midi/maxi skirt and this one from target is GOOD! I own it in two colors and wear it often. This outfit is linked HERE.

This all black look is super fun with a faux wrap top. My top is older, but I will link a super similar option. This outfit is linked HERE.

Do you own a slip skirt yet? How would you style it?

Six Ways to Wear Wide Leg Jeans for the Cooler Months

Wide leg jeans are back in a big way and I’m so excited. Alternatively, they can be called flare jeans or bootcut jeans, but it doesn’t matter what you call them–they’re cute! They remind me so much of my teen years because that’s all I wore before skinny jeans were introduced! I am excited to style and wear them because I think they can be so flattering on everyone and also very comfortable.

In these six outfits, I am wearing some sort of heeled shoe. I have found that the best way for me to not have the wide leg jean problem where you step on your hem and then it gets all wet, dirty, and frayed, is to have two different pairs of wide leg jeans– one pair that you wear with heeled shoes, and one pair that you wear with flat shoes. Let me know if you’d like to see a “ways to style wide leg jeans with flat shoes” post and I’d be happy to do that.

If you prefer video content, you can watch the reel HERE.

The first way is with a black top (mine is a mock neck bodysuit) and a long duster cardigan. I have black pointed toe heels on here, but you could certainly switch them out for black heeled boots instead! This outfit is linked HERE.

In this second look I am wearing a taupe long sleeve tee and a quilted vest. I found this vest on etsy and it’s just so cute and makes any outfit fun! I paired it with my taupe sock booties from Vivaia (mine are a sold out pair, but I linked a similar pair). This outfit is linked HERE.

I just love the colors in this third look– so warm and fall like. This sweater is a heavier weight and has a textured feel and I love the boxy, oversized fit. I paired it with the leather honey colored festival bag from Portland Leather Goods and brown leather block heel boots. This outfit is linked HERE.

I’m wearing the taupe long sleeve tee again in this fourth look and I layered with this taupe sweater vest. I added my sock booties to sort of make an “outfit sandwich” (this term means using the same color on the top and bottom to really bring your outfit together cohesively). This outfit is linked HERE.

In this outfit I am wearing a cozy oversized grey turtleneck (IMO: turtlenecks ALWAYS look great with wide leg pants), and these olive colored madison cork clogs from Aetrex. This outfit is so comfy and has a librarian like feel to it. This outfit is linked HERE.

For my last outfit, I am wearing this Quince cardigan as a top and I tucked it in to make me look taller. My boots match quite well with it and it brings it all together nicely. This outfit is linked HERE.
