I ordered these pants last year from Quince (which is a sustainable, affordable, & ethical brand) & I ended up having to re-order two sizes up because of how high-waisted they are and how they fit my body. They are super comfortable now and so cute! I have been wanting a pair of pants in this burnt orange color that I can wear in all seasons, and these are perfect. They’re finally back in stock and linked HERE.
Everything I am wearing (and similar options for older/sold out items) are linked at the bottom of this post.
Summer is in full swing, and I’m all about being as comfortable as possible while trying to look cute and also getting the most use out of my wardrobe that I possibly can.
One of the most versatile pieces you can add to your summer collection is a pair of black linen shorts. These ones are from J Crew Factory, and I’ve had them for 3-4 years now (plus they’re currently on sale for $19.95!). Not only are they comfortable and breathable, but they can also be dressed up or down for many occasions. In this post, I’ll show you six chic ways to style black linen shorts and share why I think they’re a summer staple.
1. Casual Monochromatic: For a casual but cool look, try pairing your black shorts with a black top. I am wearing a black tee, but a tank would work just as well. I paired my monochromatic look with my tan/taupe accessories, and they pop against the black.
2. Laid-Back: For a laid-back look, pair your black linen shorts with a white tank & a lightweight button up. I like to take the opportunity to wear a denim button up when I’m not wearing denim shorts! Pair it with slip on sandals and a leather backpack.
3. Dressy Casual: For a day or night out, dress up your black linen shorts with a printed blouse and some leather sandals. Add some statement jewelry or a fun bag for a touch of glam.
4. Athleisure: For a laid-back look, pair your black linen shorts with a striped tee (or graphic tee!), sporty sandals & a belt bag. Add a baseball cap for an even sportier vibe!
5. Neutral Casual: For a timeless look, pair your black linen shorts with a neutral top that adds some interest— the extended shoulders on this tee add a bit of visual excitement & I also added a printed scarf to my bag for some pattern.
6. Boho Chic: For a bohemian vibe, pair your black linen shorts with a flowy top and some brown leather sandals. Add a fun bag for some interest and personality!
Black linen shorts are a summer staple for several reasons. First, they’re incredibly versatile and I love being able to wear them causally or dressed up. Second, they’re comfortable and breathable, making them absolutely perfect for hot summer days. Lastly, they’re easy to care for and can be worn season after season (like I said, I’ve had these for 3-4 years now and they still look great!).
If you’re looking for a versatile and stylish addition to your summer wardrobe, look no further than black linen shorts. With these six great ways to style them, you’ll not only be ready for any occasion this summer, you’ll also be super comfortable!

I’ve always had a love for fashion, but I recently found myself in a bit of a rut. I was sticking to neutrals and playing it safe with my outfits. I realized that, as a style blogger, I was choosing clothes that were “easy” for others to recreate, instead of wearing what I really wanted to wear. I’ll always love neutrals, and they are SO NECESSARY for building a versatile wardrobe, but I needed to add some more fun to my wardrobe.
This year, I decided to make a change. I wanted to get my fun and personality back into my fashion choices. I started experimenting with different colors, textures, and accessories, and I’ve been loving the results.
One of my favorite ways to add some personality to my outfits is by playing with different colors. I used to shy away from bold hues, but now I’m all about a pop of color. Whether it’s a bright orange scarf or a fun-colored pair of pants (or pink hair!) I love how a bold color can instantly elevate an outfit.
Textures are another way I’ve been spicing up my wardrobe. I used to stick to plain cotton and denim, but now I’m all about mixing things up. I love the look of a chunky knit sweater with a pair of shorts, or a silky blouse paired with distressed jeans. I also love linen and wear it often in the warmer months.
Accessories have also been a game-changer for me. I used to think that accessories were just an afterthought, but now I realize that they can make or break an outfit. I’ve been having fun experimenting with different scarves, bags, and jewelry (but I’ll always love my dainty gold jewelry the most!)
Boots and vests are two of my new favorite accessories this season. I love how a pair of boots (ankle boots, tall boots, or cowboy boots) can make such a difference in an outfit depending on how you wear them, or how a vest can make a simple outfit look more interesting. I love wearing a knit vest over a dress or a plain tee or tank, and I recently ordered a cotton vest from Etsy that I’m excited to wear and style!
While it’s great to experiment with different colors, textures, and accessories, it’s also important to prioritize comfort. After all, if you’re not comfortable in your clothes, you won’t be able to fully enjoy your day. But just because you’re focusing on comfort doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style and personality. There are plenty of comfortable and stylish options out there, so it’s great to try things and find what works for you.
It’s so necessary to remember to have fun with your clothes. Fashion should be a form of self-expression, and it’s a great way to show off your personality. While neutrals will always be in style, it’s important to remember that fashion is personal and should reflect who you are. So don’t be afraid to experiment with different colors, textures, and accessories to find your own unique style!
Also, this doesn’t mean I won’t continue to create outfits that are easy to recreate— I really love doing that for myself and for you! But I will be adding some extra “personality” to some of my outfits here and there for my own happiness 🙂
In the past few years, I have struggled with dressing how I’m “supposed” to dress and actually dressing realistically and how I want to dress. What I mean by that is that NORMALLY for spring its florals, pastels, & color, and while I do enjoy those things, I want to make sure I am dressing how I WANT to and not just what is on trend for the season. These ten outfits may not be your typical “spring” outfits, but they feel very “me”, are quite realistic for where I live, and I love them!
I bought these black denim jeans from Madewell this past winter and they’re so great, but sometimes I find them harder to wear than my blue jeans because I overthink it. This is why I decided to do some styling sessions, so I’d have inspiration to look back on when I want to wear them.
I created a few reels styling them and these are screenshots from those reels (which is why the photos aren’t amazing quality– but they give you the gist of the outfits, which is what’s most important ;). You can see the reels here, here, and here.
As always, I will link everything I can (and similar items!) at the bottom of the post. I love this outfit. I wear this yellow/brown button up religiously in the spring/summer. I bought it from Target a few years ago, so it’s gone now, but I found an almost identical top that I linked below.
This jacket is a perfect spring color & is lightweight and comfy! I paired it with white sneakers which always look so cute for spring.
This little open weave sweater is so cute for spring. You can wear a tank over it or wear it open like I am. I paired it with my birkenstock boston clog lookalikes.
Black on black is always classic and I love this cardigan with the tortoise shell buttons.
This tan/taupe muscle tee is from chicwich and sold out in most sizes now, but I have an almost identical one from target that I linked. It’s so cute and the sleeves make it interesting. I’m wearing my birkenstock sandals and it’s such a casual vibe.
I don’t think I’ll ever stop wearing this cardigan from h&m that I have in two colors (sold out now). It’s the easiest thing to throw on and feel put together. I will link similar cardigans. It’s hard to tell in this photo, but I’m also wearing a striped linen tee. So comfy and cute!
Mott & Bow makes these great boxy cropped tees that dont need to be tucked to look put together. Again, I went with all black here and added a leather backpack and taupe birkenstock sandals for a cool casual vibe.
Chambray is a no brainer when it comes to pairing it with black denim. I chose a heather grey tee and white sneakers to really make this outfit cute!
If you’ve been around for the last year, you know this cotton button up has been a STAPLE in my wardrobe. It is currently sold out, but this style top is SO popular so I linked some similar options.
This outfit is the least “spring-y” of them all, but I love it just the same. It works for spring where I live (where it is still cold and wet and muddy). I love this 100% cotton organic sweater from Quince & you know I’m wearing my blundstones into spring as long as it’s wet out!
