I like a cute designated bathing suit cover up as much as the next girl, but most of the time I end up using an item from my closet to wear over my swimsuit. They’re things I can wear otherwise (which is always nice, especially if you’re on a trip and need to pack light!), and are comfy!
So, here are 7 items (that you probably already own!) that you can wear over your swimsuit.

1. Linen (or cotton!) shorts—always comfy and dry so fast!
It’s easy to get stuck in the rut of getting dressed in the morning and reaching for a plain tee with denim shorts everyday. It’s a cute look and I really love it, but sometimes I want a little bit more variety.
Here are 6 different types of tops you can pair and wear with your denim shorts (or jeans!) instead of a plain white tee.

1. A graphic tee
A graphic tee is a cute way to feel comfy and still look a little more elevated in the “denim shorts + a tee” uniform. My favorite graphic tees are from Mountain Moverz (use MARISSA20 for $$ off)!
Any little top that is different is always a cute option with denim shorts! I love this babydoll style top and I also have some cute textured tanks that I love to throw on for something a little more interesting.
A white top and denim is a classic in my book! I love how they pair together. This tank is SO OLD (from my highschool days) but I’ll link some cute ones that are still available.
A button up top (cotton or linen especially!) is one of my favorite items to pair with denim shorts. It works great as a layer over a tank or even on its own.
When denim midi and maxi skirts started coming back into style I said I would NEVER wear them—I was homeschooled and grew up in a very conservative environment and long skirts just gave me those vibes (nothing wrong with them, they just weren’t for me!).
BUT, I’ve slowly come around and I’ve been seeing so many cute ways to style them and I really found myself wanting to give one a try. So I picked this one up from Lulus and I feel like the high slit gives it a more modern vibe and not so “homeschooled”.
So, here are 7 ways I’m wearing a denim midi skirt for warm weather. I can’t wait to find even more ways to style this skirt!

Outfit 1: Denim Midi Skirt + Lime Green Sweater Tank
A pop of color is always fun with denim! I love how this cute little cropped sweater tank looks with the denim midi skirt.
Outfit 4: A Denim Midi Skirt + Orange Sweater Tank
Orange is one of my go-to favorite colors and I love how this fun bright orange sweater tank looks with the skirt. The little ruffle at the bottom makes it extra cute!
This little tie front eyelet tank is adorable! It’s such a great amazon find and I can’t wait to style it more ways. It looks so cute front tucked into my denim midi skirt.
You can’t go wrong with letting the denim midi skirt being the star of the show—a basic white tank helps that do the trick!
Outfit 7: A Denim Midi Skirt + A Green Blouse
I actually wore this outfit last week grocery shopping and really loved it! I think the teva sandals look cute with the denim skirt and I always love a pop of bright green!
As you can probably tell in this post, it was warmer out and then it got cooler again.
I start out in dresses, shorts, tanks, and breezy cotton and linen and I end up trading them out for jeans and pants near the end of the post. All part of living in northern NY and the ever changing weather and temperatures. What matters is I loved every single look and felt comfy and cute!

1. Olive Maxi + Neutral Layers
A flowy olive colored maxi dress paired with a neutral chunky knit cardigan—cozy, earthy, and perfect for transitioning between seasons.
Structured but soft, this look combines texture with comfort. The white sweater tank pops against the relaxed olive pants and a fun crossbody bag brings it all together.
This black cotton button up and jeans combo is perfect for a day of running errands. Finished it up with my go-to bag and comfy (waterproof!) sneakers.
A soft color palette with floaty shapes. This tan button up and these blush colored cotton pants feel so comfy on. I added a little bit of cool color with my green bag.
