Beach Vacation Outfits: All The Looks I Wore in Florida

I wanted to post a round up of all the outfits I wore on our family vacation in Florida (I’ll be posting a separate post of all the swimsuits I brought and wore). From dinner out, to travel days, to ice cream outings, mini golf, and more— I’ve got an array of outfits that were comfy for the extremely hot weather (there were multiple 90° days that felt like over 100° which is A LOT for this northeast girl) and everything we did! Whether you’re planning a trip to Florida or anywhere close to the beach this summer, I hope this gives you some inspiration for what to pack— flowy breathable dresses, fun floral prints, linen shorts, and fun bags that make every outfit cuter! Save this post to come back to when you’re packing for your next vacation.

As usual, I link all my outfits using affiliate links. Youn will find the link for each look under the photo and if you purchase using my links, I earn a small commission, at no additional cost to you. I appreciate your support more than you know! It helps me keep creating content like this. Thank you.

These red pants, high neck tank and cotton button up were my travel outfit on the way there. Super comfortable and easy!

The first day we were there was sort of colder and rainy (only 70 degrees) and we went grocery shopping and got everything we needed. I wore this adorable seashell tee and these linen/cotton pull on tie shorts. Soooo comfy!

I wore this linen dress to go tour the Henry Ford and Thomas Edison Winter Estates. It was flowy and comfy and I love the bright red. I actually own this dress in 3 colors now–sand (tan), black, and red. Linen and cotton are the ultimate materials to wear when its hot out. They’re breathable and help keep you cooler.

Another flowy dress for a walk around the neighborhood we were staying in. This is a dress I’ve owned for years–I love the green color (although it comes in so many other colors!) and how it barely touches your body, keeping you cool in hot weather.

I wore these comfy boxer shorts and this flowy tank for a day of hanging out at our house. I love pairing these gingham boxers with cute tops in summer! I own them in this green and white combo, the black and white, and the red and white striped.

This fun printed dress was a great option for going out to get ice cream. It’s so fun with its vibrant colors! Orange is my favorite color but it also comes in other colors too.

This outfit was perfect for going to see Alligators. We booked a trip on an airboat and got to see them in the wild, which was so fun! These shorts are a ripstop material, making them super durable. I really love this little denim tank I bought last year–it goes with everything and is so cute! They brought it back this year in a darker wash and this wash in a more square neck version.

While we were in Florida, my parents came to visit for a few days. This is what I wore while we hung out at the house and waited for them to get there. The neutral stripes on this dress are so cute and coastal!

Another outfit for spending time by the pool! Love these comfy denim shorts–they have a 3.5″ inseam which is perfect for moms! I paired them with a white sweater tank and a fun necklace duo.

I wore this outfit on Mother’s Day. My Mom and I went out and did a little shopping. I love a gauze cotton dress and this one is no exception–flowy, comfortable and soooo pretty.

This organic cotton white eyelet dress is BEAUTIFUL. I wore it to dinner out and I actually got dressed and ready after the beach in a porta potty so that was definitely an experience. ha. These Croc sandals are awesome dressed up or dressed down!

This flowy dress is sooo comfy. I paired it with my Teva sandals, a fun colorful beaded necklace and a matching crossbody bag. We had a sick kiddo this day, so we hung out by the pool and at our house while he rested.

Make your “Denim Shorts + a Top” More Interesting

It’s easy to get stuck in the rut of getting dressed in the morning and reaching for a plain tee with denim shorts everyday. It’s a cute look and I really love it, but sometimes I want a little bit more variety.

Here are 6 different types of tops you can pair and wear with your denim shorts (or jeans!) instead of a plain white tee.

If you prefer video content, watch the reel HERE.

1. A graphic tee

A graphic tee is a cute way to feel comfy and still look a little more elevated in the “denim shorts + a tee” uniform. My favorite graphic tees are from Mountain Moverz (use MARISSA20 for $$ off)!

2. A high neck tank

A high neck tank is such a great alternative to a plain tee. I think it’s so cute with a couple layered necklaces!

3. A blouse

Any little top that is different is always a cute option with denim shorts! I love this babydoll style top and I also have some cute textured tanks that I love to throw on for something a little more interesting.

4. A little white tank (or tee!)

A white top and denim is a classic in my book! I love how they pair together. This tank is SO OLD (from my highschool days) but I’ll link some cute ones that are still available.

5. A button up top

A button up top (cotton or linen especially!) is one of my favorite items to pair with denim shorts. It works great as a layer over a tank or even on its own.

6. A sweater tank

A sweater tank is adds fun texture to a denim shorts outfit. This one comes in lots of colors and o really like the crewneck on it and the side slits.

What kind of top do you like to wear with your denim shorts?! Should I do a second part to this and add more items?

Seven Ways I’m Wearing a Denim Midi Skirt for Summer

When denim midi and maxi skirts started coming back into style I said I would NEVER wear them—I was homeschooled and grew up in a very conservative environment and long skirts just gave me those vibes (nothing wrong with them, they just weren’t for me!).
